long hugs-i dont want to let you go, i love being with you hug, could be a goodbye hug or missed you hug
pat on the back hugs- nervous hugs, your just my friend hugs
short hugs- just friends, i like you but am nervous hugs, or uncomfortable hugs
held around the waist hugs- i am attracted to you, i find you sexy and i want to be with you hugs

Tight hugs, long hugs, and held around the waist hugs usually mean he likes you. Short hugs, can also mean he likes you, he is just nervous. pick up hugs and pat on the back hugs are comforting hugs, or just a friendly hug. Hope this helps!

It depends on the guy. I have shared all of these kinds of hugs from friends as well as guys I've dated. I would say the meaning of each kind depends on your connection with the guy in question.
