the people is the state vote and whichever way the vote goes democrat or republican then
An electoral college is a set of electors, who are empowered as a deliberative body to elect a candidate to a particular office. Many times, though, the electors are simply important persons whose wisdom, it is hoped, would provide a better choice than a larger body. When applied on a national scale, such as the election of a country's leader, the popular vote can on occasion run counter to the electoral college's vote, and for this reason there are some who feel that the system is a distortion of true democracy in a democratic society.

If the last election is a clue.....you need a lot of crooked people in your corner.....especially a brother who's the governor of the state where they decide to drown a lot of the ballots.

It is suppose to be by the popular vote. MEANING WE the PEOPLE ELECT our president by voting. BUT with the present bush jerk excuse we got he was put into office by what is called ELECTORAL votes. THIS is votes cast by our Politicians who are suppose to represent WE the PEOPLE but they forget who put them into office as well as forget what REPRESENT means. TIme for a REVOLUTION.
