i work as a gallery assistant at an art center and i recently saw an old professor of mine. we talked and i said how i got what i hoped for years ago. and she re-asked this question that i had in sculpting years ago. i've been thinking of it still and wondered what others would say. i know what i value now is sleep and beer. something i can actually afford to do these days and its great.

That answer is probably as good as any here.
i value criticism; Not because it has any intrinsic value,
but because we have been taught that as we grow from
childhood th adulthood, part of the change that happens
is centered within the knowing mind(so to speak); And
this controlling area of the brain only recognises one
ultimate and changeable method-that of Learning From
Ones Mistakes.
And contrary to what a lot have been taught;our teachers
too make these same mistakes. They even "define" their
mistakes and treat these things as some sort of "insightful
definition"! So i say more fool the poor students(!)
For they continue to perpetuate these false myths;False
darwin-ian myths if you like, but false anyway.
So beware,you young people.
Learn to spell the word "critical"; And try not to forget;
its a special teacher of yours who can agree and promote
any original ideas you may have.

I value creativity, curiosity, helpfulness, trying to make the world the best it can be, friends, art, music, reading, nature, seeing so much beauty and good in the world.

If you ever had the passion for art, I hope you find it again. Good luck with life.
