I got a tote this year from A&F [the Danielle] & its pretty big, I deffinately think it will fit all my books, but when it gets heavy is it bad on your shoulders? Backpacks would kill me & I`m so sick of them. I would just swing my backpack on one shoulder anyways. Is this a good idea? What do you perfer?

K cool, seems like totes are pretty good. I`ve never used one before & I`m going into 8th grade & nobody used one the year before, so I didn`t want to look strange.

I personally like totes! I used a backpack in middle school but I just got sick of them! I think that it's bad for you to like, shove your life into your totes though, because it is hard on the shoulders. If I have a heavy book or something, I carry it, and I just leave my binders and personal stuff in the bag. It helps to have a locker and/or a car where you can leave all of your stuff!! That way you can switch stuff in and out through the course of the day and only carry all your stuff to and from school.

I think totes are a great idea! I prefer the ease of being able to switch shoulders, rather than carrying a backpack which often times puts pressure on both of your shoulders *and* your back, and can cause you to hunch over while carrying your books- which is not attractive *or* comfortable!
I definitely think you've got the right idea, yay for totes!

Whichever you like, I don't really care, backpacks or totes are cool. Hehe, my name's Danielle. Ok, getting off subject, sorry, anyways, if you're sure it'll fit your stuff, and prefer it more, I think your answer is the tote!
But for me, since I'm taking Spanish, I have to haul a huge book back and forth. SO, for me, I would carry a backpack, whatever suits you is your choice.

Jansport backpacks for me.
I've got a really cute coral one for this year.
I wouldn't trust a tote with all the heavy stuff I have to carry,
you never know when they will rip or tear.
If I did, I would get a higher priced [for reliability] tote, cute patterned, and definately spacey with alot of inner pockets.

yea ive had a backpack forever and now my 9th grade year i bought some totes and so far i like them much better! Mines big and fits all of my stuff andis so much cuter to wear a tote then a backpack!

The totes are not as balanced as the backpacks when used properly.
If the tote is very heavy, swing strap over your head to the opposite shoulder - it distributes the weight more evenly.
[ must have a long strap to do this. ]

I prefer a tote just becuase when you get older you want something more mature to carry. I think backpacks are more for kindergarten through 6th grade.

when i wear tote and its heavy, it kills me. but backpack if you have it on one shoulder it doesnt feel like strings cuz it ususally have a cushion so it wont hurt as much. back packs arent that ugly, backpacks from north face are pretty nice.

i think u should go 4 the tote bag cuz its wats in now n its the samething as a bakpak cuz u swin it on 1 shoulder
