It's now been 9 weeks since my miscarriage and I still have had no period. Did hpt about 4 weeks ago now first one came up neg so I did 2 more a week later and both came up positive. Went for blood test which showed hcg levels at only 40. My doc said it's prob left over hormones from previous pregnancy but her response was "oh" when I told her about the positive tests I had done. She wants me to come in so she can examine me but she seems confused!. No d&c was required as I miscarried at 12 weeks and there was only a 5 week yolk sac. I am curious how long it took you to get your period back after a miscarriage?

You need to have your doctor give you another blood test to see if your hcg is going up or going down. I am in the same position as you are right now, I miscarried in july 5 weeks went by and no period and I took a hpt and it came back neg and then a week later I took another one and it came back positive so I took a couple more and they all came back positive. I think you are for sure pregnant because if you were not and it was just left over hormones from the previous pregnancy then the first test you took should of come up positive also but it came back neg so that means your levels must of dropped back down and then you waited alittle bit and took another one and your levels went up to make the test positive. I am not a doc but this makes the most sense this is what I am thinking happened to me, because I had a miscarriage before this last one and it took exactly 4 weeks for my period to return. Like I said go to the doc and have them give you another blood test if your levels continue to go up then your good if not then it is either left over which seems weird because of that 1st neg test or it could be another miscarriage, which hopefullly its not
good luck

I am sorry for your loss. I miscarried at 9 1/2 weeks in January. I am now 7 months pregnant! NO I didn't waste any time lol. I got pregnant before my first period after the miscarriage. I also had a natural miscarriage with no D&C necessary.
Did your doctor only get you to do one blood test? Before my doctor would confirm pregnancy after the miscarriage I had to have blood drawn on two seperate occasions...about 2 days apart. They compared the level of HCG in my blood. When it showed it was rising they confirmed the pregnancy...although I couldnt really believe it until I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks.
It seems weird to me that you would get a negative hpt and then a positive if you weren't pregnant...and 40 is still fairly high....your level is considered back to normal and you are able to get pregnant again once it drops to below 5 as far as I know.
Good luck....I hope everything works out for you....please update to let us know what happens

I'm sorry for your loss. I had a very early miscarriage last Oct. but immediately went on birth control so my next period came after 3 weeks, I know that doesn't help you.
However, I can say that from everything I have read, your hcg level should have definantly fallen back to 0 well before now. It is possible you have ovulated and been having unprotected sex since your miscarriage and conceived again before ever getting your period. I would ask for at least 1 more blood level and see if the hcg is higher or lower than 40. Best of luck to you!

I had a miscarriage in February. I am sorry for your loss. A woman's body can do strange things after a miscarriage, including fluctuating hormone levels. My period came back after 6 weeks, but a friend of mine went almost 6 months without a period.
If you want to get pregnant and your doctor has advised you that it is safe, then don't worry about whether you are pregnant or not. Just keep taking prenatal vitamins, and go in again when your doctor asks.

I miscarriaged twice.
Had no d/c for both as my body just flushed everything out of the system almost overnight.
The first took me about 6 weeks before having another period, while for the second, I didn't get my period until about 2 months...
I guess different body needs different period of times to heal.
