I used to teach at Penn -- and yes, it is hard to get in. The typical student who is accepted has 2200/2400 on his SATs and graduated with a GPA close to 4.0. It is ranked in the top five in the country.
Like other top schools, they reject lots of students who are well qualified to go there.

Its true, but I do not agree with it completely. If you look at the origin of Ivy League here, you will find that it is a sports conference and nothing to do with how tough it is to get into one of them.

Yes, all the Ivy League schools are private schools and hard to get into, but even many private/public universities are very competitive and I really think are better than some of these Ivy League schools.
So, it is more important to understand what field you are interested in and which university can nurture you better.

Ivy schools are left wing ideology indoctrination camps, with the majority of students graduating as Democrat Party talking points spewing, Commie America haters.

It's as hard as eating 15 bowls of cereal, using vodka instead of milk. But you have to finish eating all 15 bowls in 2 minutes.
