Soo I already missed 3 weeks in June b/c I had major knee surgery. Then on the 17th of August I had another knee surgery. I was supposed to go back on Monday; but that wasnt feasible. I went back Tuesday and then Wednesday I contracted some sort of rash that STILL hasnt gone away. I'm also having a problem with my breathing. I am too exhausted even to sit up right now and stay sedated from the meds I'm on. My doctor has no idea when I can go back to work; but my job isnt exactly 'understanding'. (especially since they just fired someone out of the blue b/c of some immaturity on their part). But my doctor has been faxing them doctors excuses as we go along. I dont want to lose my job; but I definitely cant perform my job tasks. What should I do? I have been kinda putting off calling my supervisor the past few days b/c I refuse to get yelled and made to feel bad about being sick.

I live in NC; where they can fire you at anytime for no reason.

You can't help all these problems and as long as you have a doctors note they technically can't fire you. I would just call your supervisor and apologize for missing so many days tell him as soon as you can you will be back at work.

It's not your fault you are sick. You may lose your job, but I think it is a good idea to keep your supervisor informed. Some employers will put you in another position that you can handle while you are recovering. You may want to check with Human Resources of your employment (if it is a larger organization), they should have information on what is possible.

as long as you have a doctors note they cant fire you, if they do then you can sue them for unfair dismissal, if its a large company they know the rules, but be careful because they can look for a clause in your contract, your health is the most important thing.
