Plenty of people think that it's indecent. I think it's a shame that it's not socially acceptable to breastfeed in public, it makes it harder to do what's best for the baby.

No, I don't think it's wrong but our culture is one that feels that the human body should not be exposed and is looked upon as disgusting and disrespectful. Most idiots don't take the time to realize or have enough sense to know that the whole purpose for 'breast' to begin with is to feed the young. But because most men and alot of women see breast as being a sexual attribute something as normal as breastfeeding in public is frowned upon. Sad but true.

I think that breastfeeding is wonderful, and natural, and the best nutrition for the baby. I think that if you can feed your baby in public without exposing yourself, and it can be done, then it's fine. But people have varying levels of discomfort, and even I as a breastfeeding mom don't like to see other women breastfeeding their children. I don't like them doing it in a public way in a public place, when there are ample opportunities to find somewhere not right out in the middle of everyone. It's embarrassing to a lot of people, so I think it's wrong to make other people feel uncomfortable.

Absolutely not - where would you suggest they be fed, then?? It's hard enough breastfeeding your baby without having to listen to pompus, arrogant, know-it-all people who have an opinion about everything. Try breastfeeding with mastitis whilst trying to watch over your autistic 3 year old. Breastfeeding mums should be given a medal, not only for trying to do the right thing by their baby, but for putting up with all the crap that this topic seems to draw.

Personally no i dont think its wrong because its natural and thats what breasts are for but i do think the reason people have issues with it is cause breats are normally a sexual thing so when you see someone breast feeding your not sure how to feel about it so alot of people just say that its wrong.
Oh and to everyone who doesnt like seeing it then why do you look? its only a boob over half the world has them.

Not if the breast is covered appropriatly. Breastfeeding is natural and the kid deems what time is right. The mom should not have to be sequestered when the kid wants to eat.
BUT~ If you are anything like the mom in my art museum setting that had the 3+ year old run over, lift up the shirt and grab the boob- NOOOO

If the mother is covered by a blanket, it doesn't bother me. If I see any titty or nipple, I think they should do it somewhere else. I think it's considerate not to make others feel uncomfortable. I know my husband gets very uncomfortable about seeing women do this in public.
I also breastfed my son, but never did I do it in public. I was not comfortable with that, people looking at me. Personally, I like privacy. And a mother who thinks ahead and is prepared can always express her milk with a pump and have it in a bottle. Nowadays they even have the coolers with ice packs to keep it from going bad. Really it's not a necessity to do it in public, but to each his own.

No it is not!!!!
The only thing wrong is the jerks who stare or when people make crude comments. Of course it is natural and should be done in a nice manner by being as modest as possible.
We had a friend stay with us a few weeks and he drove me crazy trying to get a peek every time I nursed my baby. He dogged me all over my home. Those are the kind of creeps who make it uncomfortable in public and even in private and my stupid husband would not say anything to him.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with it...I breast fed all three of my kids for a TOTAL of 6 years, and frankly if I could have squirt milk at all the dirty faces I got from people I would have.
I was discreet and yet they still felt they had a right to sneer.
Do you know your breast milk carries immunities and who knows what other properties that no formula can substitute. It helps your childs brain develop faster (all my kids are gifted) and most children cannot digest formula, and do you really trust a manufactured product over what nature intended you feed your baby?
The reason most women don't breast feed is because they can't get past that initial period of adjustment and give up...I had enough milk I could have fed triplets, and guess what, I never had to carry a bottle or formula with me anywhere and everythign was ready to go with the snap of a clip.
Dont ever let anyone discourage you from breast feeding and learn to do it right and you should not have a problem.
Women who don't take care of themselves and are malnourished likely cant produce enough milk and that's another reason they give up. You can't think of your "physique" and breast feed at the same time....baby comes first.

I don't think there is anything wrong with public breastfeeding. It is a natural thing. But I do believe a woman should cover herself while nursing her baby. I breast fed all 5 of my children. And I breast fed in public, in the 60's. I did cover myself with a diaper across my shoulder and over my babies head and my breast. No one seemed to mind. I got reassuring smiles from many older women. LOL.... I call them older, they were younger than what I am now. Since diapers are extinct now, a mother could cover herself with a light weight infant blanket.

It's not wrong--I'm in the process of weaning my 1 year old and if the situation arises when I HAVE to nurse her in public, I'll find a quiet corner. It's not like I'm hanging out for everyone to see--most people can't even tell. You wanna hear her scream? I don't--I'll just nurse if I have to.
