A K&N airfilter never needs to be changed, only cleaned and it will increase airflow which increases horsepower, and also increases fuel mileage.

The positives that you may see or hear with the use of a K&N air filter are pretty small and insignificant. A big engine with the right filter may be able to gain a little in performance at sustained high engine speeds, but doubtful gains without instruments to measure improvement. A more important positive is the "raspy throat" sounds that can be had with a K&N when there is a lot of gas pedal activity. Really a neat sounding throaty bark every time you put the pedal to the metal!

There will ZERO gain in power and fuel economy. K&N's claims about that are just not true. I have used these filters in the past and speak from experience. People who shell out $50-$350 for the deluxe kits don't want to admit they wasted their money so they convince themselves it really made a difference.

The good part is that they can be cleaned and reused for the life of the car. The cleaning solution and oil cost about $15-20 and can be used for at least 8-10 cleaning every 15,000 miles in heavy duty conditions or 30,000 in light duty conditions. Drop in K&Ns are around $50 while disposable paper filters are about $10-20.

If you plan on keeping the car a long time it is worth it to buy K&N for it. If this will just be a car to keep a year or two then don't waste your money. The filter will add NOTHING to resale value.

The horse power gain is a myth if you add all the hp gains with all the stuff you can add it would have more hp than what you started.I have 3 with K&Ns they are great it lets the engine breath better , & there reusable, Just don't use oil all the time as it will be like a plug filter an mess up your air sencer< I clean mine often an not oil it each time.I have ram/air dodge diesel 435 hp Should give you 1 mile per gal more>??

I have K&N filters in my 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4.0L, my 1988 Buick Regal Custom 2.8L, and my old carbureted 1986 Buick LeSabre Estate Wagon Hearse 5.0L. I can safely say I really haven't noticed much of a difference in performance in any vehicle. I do enjoy not having to replace the filters... ever, and they come with a cool sticker. They do a great job stopping dirt and dust from entering the engine, and for that reason alone I put them in any vehicle I own.

Dont listen to them, i purchased a K&N Filter for the fuel economy increases, but i gained alot of power as well.
A friend and I were bored one night so we went out and did 0-60s. I had just thrown my paper filter in the back seat of my car so we decided to compare times in automatic transmission. The K&N Gave me about 1.5 seconds better time, it also makes your car sound good.
ADVANTAGES
-Increased MPG (I got about 1-2 increase)
-Never needs to be changed (Save $10-$15 every 3000 or so)
-Gain Power (It was noticable, dont listen to the other people)
-Engine Sound (Adds a nice induction sound)
Buy it.

if the you put any non oem filter on any modern engine with a MAF sensor ( 1996 +)
and the filter has oil on the element.
it will put oil mist on side sensor and coke it up.
It will coke up anyway but much faster.
price the MAF,
cost of ownership is not just free filter cleanings.

no matter what you want the best filter to stop dust and fine sand from entering your engine.
No HP gain, as both flow just fine. if clean.

The main benefit would be a modest cost savings over replacing your paper filter every 15k miles. Probably just a waste of money. The advertised horsepower gains would hardly be noticebable. Save your money

Well it's suppose to be the Holy Grail of Air Filters. Me personally, I think nothing. Just a waste of money.

You don't have to waste money to buy a new one. You just clean it out and put it back. It also adds horsepower and saves gas in the long run. I've had one in every car I've owned and loved it!!!!!!!
