Most people using AT&T, Cingular, and the new at&t call all call each others' wireless phones free of charge. These people have what is called Mobile to Mobile calling on their monthly calling plans. It is sometimes abbreviated as M2M. Check your bill and look at the summary...this is usually on page 3 or 5. Your minutes will be broken down as to peak, night and weekend, M2M, and rollover. If you do not have mobile to mobile, you need to upgrade your plan to a current plan and this may require a new handset depenidng upon if ou are on the older technology (analog, digital, digital multi-network or TDMA).
The other thing you can do is call 611 which is a free call on your cellular phone and ask the customer service rep if it is included in your plan.
The easiest way to call customer care if calling from a landline phone is to call 1-800-311-0500, enter your cellular phone number, then press -0- at both the first and second prompts and your call will than be sent right into the loop for the next available representative.
Hope this helps!

Yes, Every Single mobile phone on the ATT/Cingular network gets free mobile to mobile calling. This does not use any minutes, but you still have to pay for your regular minutes.

Probably but, it will still cost you a fortune since everyone has "Verizon", and everyone with "Verizon" will be pissed at you because, now they just got charged for a call. In every group of friends there is always some knuckle head who gets "Sprint" or "AT&T" because, they think it's cheaper, it is'nt, their are more dropped calls than with "Verizon" so you have to call more, also people will not want to answer their phone, when you call. They get charged twice, once for your call, then again when you call back from the dropped call !
