Could be lots of things, you may need to consult a repairman. Your disk drive could be dead, or just garbled a bit. You might be overheating. Open up the case and look for dust bunnies. They interfere with airflow and make your computer overheat. No vacuum cleaners, they generate static, and will break it good.

The first thing to do is to just relax and figure out what is keeping the machine busy. If you are running Windows XP, bring up Task Manager by pressing Ctrl - Alt - Del and click the Performance Tab to see what kind of processor utilization and disk activity you are getting. If the processor is very busy, check the list of Processes to see what it is doing with all those cycles. If the processor isn't busy, it's probably waiting on data from disk much of the time (a failing disk often shows up first as a slow disk, as it is forced to retry reads and writes multiple times). Make sure all the memory you have is being seen and used. See if the machine is swapping to disk more than it should (excessive paging, and high disk activity). Once you know the source of your slowdown, you can formulate a plan to fix the computer. But you stand to make matters worse by just trying fixes, without doing thorough troubleshooting.

Looks like there is something wrong with the BIOS setting. You need to get to your BIOS and set it to default. Keep clicking DEL key after turning on your computer until you get to your BIOS. Find an option that says " default bios setting", click it, then click exit and it will ask you if you want to save the configuration, choose save and your PC will reboot. Sometimes the key to get to the BIOS uses F1 or F2, if DEL key wont work.

Get out your original install CD, boot from it and try to repair your installation. If that does not work then you may have to reinstall from scratch.
