the half ton rating is set at around 70% of safe load for the leaf springs at the rear axle. half ton pick up can easily haul 1500 pounds as longs as your tires are in decent shape with max psi and make sure your brakes are in good condition. brakes on half ton pickups are about worthless when it comes to towing or hauling a load. BUT a yard of dirt is a little over double that so for safety sake i would make 3 trips or have it delivered.

Check with the supply yard on how much it weighs. If they do not know have them only load a bit at a time and cut them off if the back end sinks down too low. You might have to make two trips which will still be better than having it delivered.

a cubic foot of top soil weighs 75 - 100 pounds. There are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard.

scoops... I believe 1 scoop is 1/2 or 1/3 yard... so make two or three trips...

nope because the tires will be grinding on the wheel wells, and the shocks and struts could get damaged.a yard of dirt is twice the weight your truck is rated for

When you're loading it, just watch if your tires are bulging on the bottom....That's how the DOT tells if a truck is over loaded I hope this isn't one of those little P/Us..The truck will set down but as I say if the tires aren't bulging you're good to go SLOWLY

It depends on how wet it is.

This says a cubic yard of dirt weighs 3375 lbs, so no, it would bust your truck.
