I'd wrap a bone, buy a bag of kitty weed catnip, get a parrot some pecker polish, or a sack of nuts for their monkey, and go and have a good time. If they're serving choclate cake, it's not healthy for dogs. If it's an AArdvark, better special order one of the ice cream ant hill cakes. If I left anybody out, sorry, you wouldn't want to be there anyway. No animals were hurt in the presentation of this answer.

WELL....If your friend cares for that pet like a child...and they dont have kld of their own...OR if their kids want to have the party..I'd go along wiht it...really what's it gonna hurt..besides what's it liek a few buck for pet toy?
