Men: Andy Roddick 155 mph (he also held the three previous records of 153 mph, 151 mph and 149 mph tied with Greg Rusedski)

Women: Venus Williams 129 mph (she has broken her old record of 127 twice this year hitting a 128 at the French Open and a 129 just the other day during the US Open)

*Brenda Shultz McCarthy actually achieved the fastest recorded serve ever by a woman at 130 mph, but this was not done during the course of any tournament, only in practice.

**Pete Sampras is considered to be the greatest server of all time. He regularly achieved 130-140 mph on his first serve and was known for having the best second serve ever averaging 115-120 mph on the second delivery.

Andy Roddick holds the record for the fastest serve in recent times. The speed was 155 mph.

But I came to know that in 1931 Bill Tilden, had it measured at
163.6mph.
