3x - 2 = 0 or x + 5 = 0
3x = 2 or x = - 5
x = 2 / 3 , x = - 5

If two numbers multiply to be zero, then one of them must be zero. So either (3x-2) = 0 , which means 3x = 2, and x = 2/3;

or (x+5) = 0 which means x = -5.

Because of the zero product property, each of the parts on the right has to be equal to zero, so set each equation equal to zero and solve.

3x-2=0 so x=2/3
and
x+5=0 x=-5

3x - 2 = 0
x + 5 = 0

set both equal to zero and solve for x in each equation separately x will have two separate answers

so in this one x = -5, 2/3

(3x-2)(x+5) = 0
-> 3x^2 + 12x - 10 = 0 (another form if you expand it!)
This is a quadratic equation, or a U-Shaped graph that cross intersects at -2/3 and -5 respectively on the X line. (X Y graph, 2D graph)
Try doing a table of values, for the equation
Y = (3x-2) (x+5) for X and Y values.
Try plotting this on a graph chart (XY) and you will get the U-Shaped graph as what i told you.
The place whereby it intersects the X line where Y = 0 is the result of your equation.
Typically, the equation you gave tells us this. The general equation is
Y = aX^2 + bX + c.
