Your Doc will determine when you need your first ultrasound,it also depends on what your insurance covers. You don't usually have your first ultrasound until you are 18-20 weeks, unless the Doc has a reason he needs one done prior.I did have an early ultrasound at 6 weeks with my last pregnancy because I wasn't sure of the date of my last period, and all I could see was the the yolk sac with the embryo that looked nothing like a baby (did not have any formed features)I did see the tiny little heartbeat though which is pretty cool then had my 2nd at 12 weeks-by then you can see the baby pretty much formed and even see little movements the 18 week ultrasound they are able to determine the sex of the baby.Congrats on your pregnancy.

Hi!
Well, I believe your doctor should be able to tell you this and if they don't have the ultra sound machine they should help you with setting up the appointment for an ultra sound. When I went to my doctor the first time, we thought I would be about 3 weeks, calculating from my last period, but when she did the utlra sound that same day (my first appointment), we found out I was 7 weeks and 5 days!!! :) yes! and we could see the little ball there with a heartbeat! no human shape yet, but it was already visible and I'm sure at 6 weeks you should be able to see something. Ask your doctor :)
Good luck! and congratulations!!! :)

Most insurances won't pay for an ultrasound this early unless you are having complications. You will be about 16-20 weeks before your first ultra sound if every thing is okay with the pregnancy. Good luck with the pregnancy and I hope you have a healthy baby

Unless you are having bleeding issues most doctors won't do an ultrasound until at least 8 weeks. At 6 weeks they just won't see very much...just a sac, a blob that is the baby and a yolk sac. Some doctors even wait until 12 weeks for the first ultrasound.

If you make an appointment to see a midwife then she will sort all of that out it should be at 12 weeks for your first unless there are any problems detected and after that you get one at 25 weeks and it is much more detailed the 12 week scan is for the obvious such as heartbeat etc

They usually won't give you an ultra sound until you are about 11-12 Week unless you are having problems. You might not be able to hear the vitals yet, meaning you might not see nor hear the heart beat at six weeks. If you are having troubles go see the Dr or go to the ER.Good luck

The baby will be very small at this time...you couldn't really see much of a baby yet...it's still developing! Most docs don't do one this early unless there is a problem, and it would most likely be a vaginal ultrasound. You'll be able to see the baby better after a few months. Also, most docs don't let you choose when you have the u/s. They will do it if/when they feel it is appropriate.

The time the your doctor will want you te get an ultra sound is 17-22 weeks pregnant then you can see what gender it is. They may require you to get one if they have a hard time finding a heart beat.

You will proabably be offered one by your doctor about 12 weeks. You'll be able to see the baby alot more clearly than now, as at the moment is is so tiny you may be dissapointed that you cant see more.
