I am 38 weeks pregnant and my doctor is going to induce me in 13days which is only 5 days before my due date. My sister-in-law said that they can legally induce you at 38 weeks, does anyone know if this is true? Is it true that walking/sex/nipple stimulation really work? Is there anything else?

38 weeks is barely considered full term. Its not weight of the baby that determines its readiness, its its development. The last two weeks of pregnancy are devoted to weight gain (for survival and for sensory development.) lung and liver development.

Long term studies have shown that babies born before their 39th have a higher risk for hospitalization due to illness and a higher mortality rate before their first year.

37 weeks is full term, but those weeks between DO make a big difference.

two weeks means your baby has a better easier time after birth, and a healthier life for all his years. Two weeks will not kill you, its only 13 days out of the rest of your life, for his sake.

If you want to avoid being induced, just stay active, and stimulate your nipples every day all day those last couple days. Its the surest way to progress labor.

I do not know anything about the law,but it is a good idea to let the baby come when he/she is ready for the world, but in some cases, like GD or high blood pressure ect...they can induce for the safety of mother and baby.

I have done all the stimulations and walking,it helps your cervix get ready for the day your little one decides its time.

LOL! Wow, you sure want that baby out! I feel for you, really I do. I don't know what the laws are, but I'm sure your doc could induce you now if he wanted to. I don't think there's any stats about the sex/nipple stim thing, it works for some people, and doesn't work for others, may as well have fun trying.

I am not sure of the legal terms but if you and your baby are not in stress then you should let your baby stay in as long as possible. You want your baby to be as strong and healthy as it can be and be ready to come out. Yes nipple stimulation does work!

My midwife recommended acupressure and it worked great. It is perfectly safe for you and the baby and it even helps to reduce the pain during childbirth. I got the information from a great ebook which gives step by step information. I highly recommend it.
