Why not? I do not think their sexuality will affect their political views, unless of course it's on things like...well gay marrige. In a world where gays/lesbians are bashed upon/ this politician would be seen as brave for coming out so openly, if anything, I would strongly support the politician. Just as others would not liked to be judged by the color of their skin, homosexuals should also not be judged by their sexuality.

I would never vote for a gay politician.
I would vote for a politician who happened to be gay.
Different things, if you have the eyes to see.

Well, if he was a cross dresser, no. But other then that, I mean, I dont' know what being openly gay means to tell you the truth. If you mean that he/she stated they were gay and that was the extent of it, and they were the best qualified for the position, I would vote for them. It's hard to find someone qualified for being a good politician though so, you really can't afford to not choose someone just because their sexuality isn't ideal for your liking.

Probably if I thought he represented my views and interests. A persons sexuality shouldn't be an issue.
In fact, why should a gay politician even mention it?

I personally would vote for anybody, provided that I agreed with their platform. For example, if Justin Raimondo (the editor of Anti-War.com) were to run for office, I'd definitely vote for him.

that issue should be irrelevant in the electoral process.
If I agreed with much of their platform, of COURSE I would vote for them.

I don't care what his or her personal life happens to be, I vote for where they stand on important issues.

A person's sexual orientation would have no impact on my voting for or against them.
But the fact that they are honest about their personal life is a mark in their favor.

I could care less about a person's sexual orientation. It's their integrity I care about and their stand on issues that are important to me.
