Prunes, any way you like em.
I like them stewed and mixed with oatmeal, bulgar wheat, and brown sugar- the ultimate fiber boost.
Prune juice works well too.
Push the green veggies.

Other options: Metamucil Wafers or powder, add Fibersure to anything.

Hydrate with plenty of water so the stool is comfortable to pass.

She may have hemorrhoids which is more common for women when pregnant. Ask the physician or pharmacist about OTC meds that are safe. Certain supplements make people constipated too- she might want to discontinue for a while- of course per doctor's order.

Laxatives When Pregnant

Shaklee used to have an herbal laxative, don't know if they still have it or not. Though when I was pregnant, I took that to go into labor.
She probably needs fiber and lots of water.
Have an orange every night before going to bed.
Fiber Sure is good, you mix it in a warm drink and can't even taste it.
She really should go to the doctor and ask him.
Laxatives may make a pregnant woman go into labor.

If she hasnt pooped in 8 days she needs to see the doctor. They can give her a suppository.

Benefiber every day will help her. I had the same problem. Phillips fiber suppliment pills are safe too. Anything but a real laxative.

She needs twice as much water as usual, and twice as much fiber. She can also take a flinstones instead of her prenatal so she's not stopped up due to the iron.

I know just how she feels. Honestly. i actually went into labor from trying to poop... lol.

don't take anything with out your doctors say so. That is asking for problems. Talk to your MD ask about Benefiber. Or any other fiber supplement. Tell her to drink apple juice or cider. Even eat a bowl of mini wheats. Do not try any laxative!!!

Constipation is really, really common during pregnancy. Prunes work well. Also, a high-fiber cereal like Fiber One. Fiber One also makes granola bars that are super-yummy. And eat lots of fruits and veggies. I'd recommend any or all of the above. Also, tell her to drink a lot of water, juice, etc, and keep exercising--that helps move things along. She needs to keep that up, though--try like five prunes every day or something like that. They're not so bad--kind of tasty when you get used to them.

I always swore by Pineapple Juice. I would keep a 6pk of the juice boxes in the fridge (in case of emergency!)
