Moms asking: how can she stop using Dicyclomine, and does it give cancer? Will this help her as she grows old?

THe main point is, she eats fiber, she does EVERYTHING the doctor says, but she doesn't want to take the medication since she has too many and doesnt want to take it forever. Blah blah, that's what she's asking.

Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic drug that is used to treat treat intestinal hypermotility and is normally used for patients with irritable bowel disease as they have alternating bouts of diarrhea and constipation. It's nice that she's eating lots of fiber, but this will only correct the constipation side of things. The medication is to help with the diarrhea. You should probably trust your doctor on this one. He doesn't want you on the medication for nothing. No it doesn't cause cancer.

I hope this helps.

This drug is o.k. for short term use but it does cause & have a lot of side affects.
Side effects include dry mouth, blurred vision, confusion, agitation, increased heart rate, heart palpitations, constipation, difficulty urinating, and occasionally seizures can occur. Other potential side effects include changes in taste perception, difficulty swallowing, headache, nervousness, drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, impotence, flushing, difficulty falling asleep, nausea, vomiting, rash, bloating and difficulty breathing.
In terms of producing cancer, there are no known studies.
So the medical field folks, just don't know yet.
I would seek out & talk with a nutritionist or an alternative health care provider, so you can take less drugs.
