Im trying to get into a california state university. This is my senior year of high school and i've already took spanish 1/2 and 3/4. I am now taking 5/6 and thinking about dropping it because it is difficult! I want to know will my transcript look better with 5/6 or the same without 5/6 for a CSU? Also, what classes should i take for my senior year to get into a CSU....

Also im thinking if my transcript does look the same w/o 5/6, i would like to be a Teacher Aide. Do CSU look at the Teacher Aide grade?

College admissions' officers like to see 'consistency' and the ability to stick to a program and follow through. There are only 2 years of a foreign language required for Cal State Northridge [check the Cal State you are interested in]. If you do MORE than is expected it may help you. Ask your high school counselor AND call the Cal State admissions office and ask the question. The competition is tough and you want to look good on paper. The requirements are the MINIMUM not the maximum. Keep that mind before you drop a class.

In the link below, check the 'find a college' and type in the Cal State you want. Then click on 'admissions' and look under 'foreign language'. Also, check the Cal State website for the minimum requirements. Good luck! The Cal State is a great system.

CSU only requires 2 units of a language, so you are okay if you don't want it, but it is something which would be very helpful for life in California! You might want to check out the College Board's website to see what you still need to get into a CSU. The URL is www.collegeboard.com.

As far as I know, CSU requires 2 years of foreign language. So, if you drop your class, it won't make much of a difference for your application because most campuses accept everyone who qualifies. Teacher's Aide is not an academic class and they will not consider it towards your application or your GPA.
