the plan may be to require everyone man, woman and child in the US to carry papers...a National ID Card called "REAL ID". So you can be tracked wherever you go where you must use the card....when you buy amo or a new gun? And while we're at it, how 'bout the implanted micro chip, so the gov't can track you wherever you are on the your home property in Montana?, when you go to town?, visit your girl friend?, meet with others who share you distrust of the federal gov.?

You are incorrect -- the Real ID Act does not create a national ID card.

What it does is set standards for STATE-issued ID cards, and which of those state-issued cards will be accepted by federal authorities.

It also mandates that states share their data from the state-issued cards with the federal govt.

There is no federal national ID, other than a passport or military ID.

Nor is there any microchip being required in any ID card, state or federal. The Real ID Act requirements include that the card must have a "machine readable" data option -- such as the magnetic strip on the back of must current state IDs, and all credit cards or bank ATM cards.

The idea strikes me as being a bit off track! If you have a birth certificate, Social Security card, a drivers license & paid taxes for a million years, why would you need anything else?! I have doubts that the government is seriously considering such a thing, most Americans would balk at something so insidious as to suggest that we need to have a national passport to go along with all of our other Identification.

the national ID card should not be used to track people, but people who are in America legally should have them to show proof of residence.

the microchip should be optional because it can be scanned if a person is passed out and give the medical doctors all the medical history of the patient
