Sprint phones don't "unlock" like ATT or T-Mobile phones.

Those carriers use a technology called "GSM" which is the same as European countries, just different frequency bands. Unlocking one of these phones allows them to work on the overseas wavebands.

Sprint uses a technology called CDMA. This is a true digital signal, the same as Altel and Verizon. CDMA phones use a unique encryption technology, and do NOT use SIM chips. These phones are incompatible with GSM technology and CANNOT see GSM towers or communicate with GSM signals.

This technology is faster, more robust, and offers more security than GSM phones. People can't "overhear" or tap into CDMA conversations--the encryption is sophisticated and changes several times a second.

ON the brighter side, Sprint is aware that some customers will want/ need to travel to Europe. They offer a "worldband" Sprint phone which can be rented on your account, and which will work in most places in Europe. Call *2 customer care and the rep can assist you in ordering a worldband phone. Or sign in to Sprint.com and lok there.

What do you mean lock and unlock it? If you mean lock the keypad, you should just push a button up on the side..
