No since they grow quite huge and you will need lots of space and foods for it.
If you are a beginner you should start with greek tortoise, they are a small type of tortoise and its max size are about 8 inch from its carapace length. Its easy to care.

They do get rather large, so if you can provide the correct environment, heat, UVB, and amount of food they need then OK. Maybe not the best beginner tortoise. How about a box turtle?

it alrite but if u really want da best experience u should get a red footed tortoise cause its da best tortoise ive had i feed it and give it water just 3 times a week and i keep dem in a box in my house and i walk dem once a week therr good 4 da type of owners da 4get dey have a pet but da best one would really b a gallapogos tortoise but u cant get one.

If you cannot manage the adult, do not start with the baby.
Leopards need large space, good habitat management, a well-managed diet... they are OK for people in the American Southwest, but not real great for the rest of us, or beginners.
