I seriously doubt that the UN has any power to do anything. It would be impossible for anyone to take guns aways from every person in the United States.

In my opinion, you would have another revolution if it was attempted.

I don't know who you mean by "the best protected people' because it's certainly not the US. I don't know why you would think it's the US, except maybe because we are so willing to believe the newspapers are telling us the whole story, and that our leaders would never lie to us. Some still believe the US, which neither pays their UN dues on time, and then uses the dues as blackmail, nor obeys the decisions and Resolutions of the UN Security Council (preferring to veto such measures as a ceasation of armed attack by the US or one of its clients, or the right of return for refugees, or a call to obey international law) would obey the law or pay any attention to what the UN Security Council, much less, the General Assembly might have to say. Ha! The US is a rogue nation, which will not allow itself to be held accountable by anyone for any of its numerous and in many cases purposeful acts of terror, subversion of democratically-elected and dictatorial governments alike, economic sanctions against chosen enemies, support for "friendly" regimes, no matter how brutal, or responsibility for war crimes and the payment of reparations (to Vietnam, for example). The US pays little attention to the UN, the World Court, Unicef, Amnesty International, the Red Cross, or any other international organization that dares to point out overwhelming evidence (conveniently ignored by the "liberal" press) that it is the US and its eagerness to use military forces and WMD that poses the greatest threat to world peace, is far behind in providing the essentials of life for its citizens, is only one of three countries that still practice corporal punishment (Saudi Arabia and Iran are the other two), and cannot provide decent housing or health care or quality education or hold a fair election that includes all of its citizens, regardless of skin color or sex or means. What are you so worried about your gun for? You think you're going to have a chance with your pop-gun against armored personnel carriers and Huey attack gunships? A much more important freedom, that of dissent and the rule of law, is being taken away. Your Bill of Rights has been shredded, not by the UN, but by your own government. We don't need to worry about 'commies' or 'terrorists' or 'drug lords' destroying this country, because we're doing it to ourselves. A country that allows its rights to be taken away never really had them in the first place. Gun ownership should be the least of your worries.

Nobody will touch our second amendment rights. The UN is not big enough to do that. Hell even our Military is not big enough to do that. Those serving in uniform both civilian and military are more committed to the 2nd amendment that most are and will side with those protecting the 2nd amendment.

First of all, the UN cannot enforce anything. Their role and powers are strictly advisory and non-binding. The only enforcement comes by and through member countries.

Also, the program you cite refers to destruction of weapons in countries engaged in civil/sectarian conflict, where the UN is asked to send troops (drawn from the armies of member countries) to aid the population.

Unless the US internal conflict has escalated over the weekend to include armed fighting in the streets of the US, the program wouldn't apply here.

The other links you cite are from 1961.

Lawfully armed citizens in the U.S. outnumber the U.S. military 6 to 1.. The UN has no authority to impose anything. I wouldnt worry about it.

I'm not sure how a university in Geneva is going to strip Americans of their 2nd Amendment rights.

And who will the UN deploy to enforce such an endeavor? U.S. troops?

Of course there is no way that will happen, how silly.
