Put the male with the female, and 3 weeks later you have babies, just like clockwork.

I don't see a problem with breeding rats. If I could stand the smell, I would do it too. It is a lot cheaper to breed them than to have to buy a hundred a month. I used to breed them, but ended up spending more time caring for them than the snakes I was feeding them to. I always left 1 male and 2 females together. Even when there are babies. I also know several breeders and they do the same thing. Rats form little colonies and even 2 different females will share babies. Feed them a high quality diet, like a lab diet, or you will have problems with the females eatting the babies.
