Generally speaking, a person does his hard time(pays his dues to society) and is released from prison.

Instead of the normal stigmatization inmates receive upon release, how can we spin it, to promote positivism?

I understand certain criminal offenses will come under attack when answering and I'm not looking for that. I am trying to determine how we can promote a positive upon release.

Most people are judged on "what have you done lately".. this makes convicts less desirable to hire, or support financially or emotionally. So..if you would have them fill out a resume..it would be less than stellar. If a convict actually earned a degree while being incarcerated..that may be a different story. I'm not sure how many programs prisons run that allow people to advance themselves..but without any.. their only skill is lifting weights, picking up trash along the highway, and surviving. Hmmm.. If a community checklist was mandatory to acclimate them to the civilian sector..that would be helpful. There could be a point system for good behavior, work completed, education advancements, etc. Possibly a final score would be given to the released inmate that would give future employers an idea of how badly the person wanted to acclimate back into society.

You'd have to change the way western society views criminal offenders, and that just won't happen. The convict must earn his/her respect back. I suggest that convicts hold down a steady job for at least a year after release before even worrying about their image.

That is not our responsibility to be positive toward an ex con.It is the ex cons responsibility to be the positive one and to prove himself in society. We did not put him in Prison,he did that himself.

Reduce the rate of recidivism. Given the high rate or recidivism, I don't see why we would want to trust them. I know, sad, but it's human nature.
