You don't say when they migrated. Colonial America isn't the same as the Plymoth Colony or the Jamestown Colony. The basic reason all of them came to America was to make money. Some were seeking religious freedom, but most of the colonies were set up as trade stations and the people who settled them were there to make money by catching and selling furs, eventually they exported tobacco and other goods, too. There was great hope that the colonists would find gold and send that wealth back to the investors. England very cleverly sent prisoners over, too, that way they emptied their jails and provided cheap labor for colonists. In the end, it was mostly a financial gamble.

In the North Eastern Colonies, Mass, Rhode Island, Conn. motives were for religious toleration, Fishing, Timber and land.
New York was there by treaty which the Dutch Ceded the colony to the English and New York was the major avenue of invasion to the English Colonies.
New Jersey Pennsylvania and Maryland were Royal Colonies with charters.
While North Carolina was where Scot Exiles from the Jacobean revolts were sent.
In the Southern Colonies of South Carolina and Virgina was Land a drive for riches.
Georgia was a penal colony.

There were many reasons. Religious freedom was one, a chance to have their own land was another. And some come to the colonies because they were given a choice of leaving or going to jail...
The state of Georgia was settled by released prisoners.

3- the cast system kept people on the bottom.
4- disease and population.
5- Promises of farmlands, free land and freedom to practice their own crafts.

king george would tax everything and he would say you can't hav ethis religion, you can't play golf on sunday or things like that and they wanted to escape. also, wouldnt it be excitin!
