I work many hours during the week and don't have the time to give to a high maintenance yard and especially not to a design it yourself flowerbed. Are there any companies that you would recommend where I can purchase a ready designed flowerbed pattern (as in insert plant five here) for a half-way decent price? What other recommendations do you have?

Gosh half the garden books on my shelf have some type of flower bed plan. But first look at www.highcountrygardens.com

They sell complete perennial flower garden kits.......and many of their gardens are designed by Lauren Springer, who I consider quite talented.

As far as book, the one I just grabbed is "100 Garden Plans" by Andrew R. Addkison with Jack Kramer. So do an Amazon.com search for this or something similar and see what pops up.

If you live in an area where there is a Lowe's, go and you will find cards with photos of the final product (flowerbeds). On it, it will tell you how many per whatever square foot to purchase. Pls make sure you ask about soil preparation in your area and watering needs before you purchase. In fact, you have to have both in place before you buy, or else, they may die while you're still busy prepping the site (it can take weeks). Ask about the new SOIL MOIST (a brand) granules which would help lessen water stress in flower beds.

Bluestone Perennials ( catalog) offers at least three. I don't know what you call a decent price. I don't know if the garden sets are available on-line or not.
