Separating the nuclear DNA transcription (txn) from the translation(tln) to protein in the cytosol allows another step for control of final expression. Each increase in complexity has a cost in management and maintenance of infrastructure that is offset by the increased potential for efficient feedback and control over the systems. It is essentially the first separation of the soma, the body, from the germ with its stored information.

The soma needs quick responce tp environmental changes while the nucleus offers a stable sheltered location to shield the genes from external damage. It is harder to be parasitized by virii.
Once the eukaryote becomes multicellular cell differentiation offers greater use of the spatial separation of the soma from the germ inside the organism
With stepped DNA txn & tln it becomes possible to send the protein to a specific destination before it is activated. The addition of leader sequences to the gene can hold a protein inactive until needed. The golgi appartatus then stores the proteins.
