Im sure they will improve next season, they are too loaded offensively, but not this season. Cecil Cooper will make an interesting interim coach, he could teach Carlos Lee and Lance Berkman plenty, but this season will just be to spoil other's playoff hopes.

Not sure if management was the problem. The Astros just seemed to be in a funk the entire season.

They only can improve from here. I mean we will improve if anybody not named Tim Purpura is the Astros GM. Cecil Coopers gonna be great with this team. As our pitching goes we're gonna have to get better.

Merely bookmarks, holding the seats warm for someone else. It'll be interesting to see how Cooper does, but 2007 is already in the ashcan, so his real impact will be 2008 if he gets the permanent job.
Is Larry Dierker still around? There was a man who knew how to handle a pitching staff, and brought home four division titles in five seasons. It was dumb to fire him (as manager) to begin with; maybe McLane can redress that.
