I think it was a failed attempt at repeating the genius that Waters' created in 1988.
You can't just put a bunch of actors into roles that are already loved by people. Sometimes they succeed and sometimes they fail.
While most were good at what they did, Travolta was the worst choice ever for Edna.

I didn't like it as much as the previous film adaptation. I honestly didn't think the main character dance well enough for her role... like in the 88 version the girl rocked.
Travolta honestly freaked me out. I felt sick whenever he was in a scene... way too wierd and uncool *and I do like unconventional stuff*.
The costumes and the overall decor was awesome. I do not think it should win any oscar though because it failed (I my opinion) the reach the level of the likes of Chicago and Cabaret (which are really amazing film musicals).

I loved this Hairspray the first was not as good. This movie has it all; love, music/songs as well as other issues only few people have to deal with such as racism and the biggest of all obesety. Yes big people do and can dance and sing. Thanks for letting the world know that we are 'regular' people.

hairspray was in no other words FABULOUS.
The cast, the music, the plots. Fabulous.
I loved the movie and cannot wait until I get another chance to see it again.
It might win Best Pitcure, I sure hope so, but it should win something.
