How do you think your level of attractiveness affects things like:

Your employment and career sucess?
Your success in romantic relationships?
How many freinds you have?
How people percieve and treat you?
How you feel about yourself?

I ask because I've been reading about lookism, discrimination based on physical appearence. And studies seem to demonstrate that being beautiful gives you an edge in most any aspect of life, from how much you make at work to how much attention and affection you recieve from your parents. Do you see the effects of lookism in your own life?

Your employment and career sucess?
I would say it depends on how experienced and how well you know what you are doing in the career than your looks.

Your success in romantic relationships?
If you are good looking and have a nice personality, then you will get into a lot of relationships if that is what you want. And if that is what the other person is looking for.

How many freinds you have?
During middle school and beginning of high school, most people get judged by their looks. But towards the end, looks don't matter much anymore as they used to.

How people percieve and treat you?
Now the better looking people do seem to get more attention, as I have noticed in life. No, it isn't a nice thing at all but that is how most people work.

How you feel about yourself?
If you get told that you are so beautiful/handsome/good looking all the time by many people, you do feel good about yourself, but it also comes with constantly trying to look your best so you keep getting compliments.

As shallow and pathetic as it sounds, looking good can get you further than being, well, let's say not-so-good looking.
