every own person has it's own meaning of life, which is to live up to God's plan for him/her.
If you are wondering why we are here on earth, try reading purpose of a driven life. Nice book.

Hope I helped!

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

I think the meaning of life

**as we know it here on Earth**

is to create yourself into something that you can live
--- in alignment with the fact that there are other lives all around you

everyday you make up your mind, you change your mind, you make decisions -
creating yourself and changing the self you had created

you have in the body a brain
which is equipped to change your mind

when you leave this earth all you take with you is the you that you have created out of life

so meaning would be...
what do you want to be if after death
with no cars, no job, no bank account, no body, no brain just a conscious mind....
you get to stand up as whatever survives and face all the rest of Life and say:
"I am _______________________________"

If God exists, then the meaning of our lives comes from living for the purpose for which He created us.

If God doesn't exist, there is no meaning and all we can do is to think of things to keep us busy and to make us feel good about ourselves (boost our ego through some meaningless good deed).

But I think God exists and I reason that He put our great need for meaning into our human nature in order to point us to seek Him. So I think our purpose is to seek God and know God.

Someone I know told me that the bible says that the meaning of life is to reproduce and survive. I'm not sure if it was right or not though.

For me, it is to glorify God. A lot easier said than done I know, and I sometimes, like most humans, wish it was just to live large and fulfill all of our desires, but for me, life demands more than that.

I don't think there is one meaning. I think that every person has a different purpose and only you know what yours is.

It seems to be that we exist simply because we can. something that cannot exist does not reproduce and continue what we call life.
