Just curious..... it is the fact that this is the third time someone stole my child's shirt (name all over it) and I have to replace it yet again.

He is getting zeros for not having the shirt and is going to have detention Friday, then a referral the next Friday, then suspension the next if I do not buy a third shirt... It really isn't the cost, well $20 a pop is I suppose, but it is that they let some kid take shirts and do nothing about it.....

All of the schools I know of charge for P.E uniforms, they are allowed to charge for it, because its a school and they made it a way to make money out of you. It's public so they don't get donations, and come up with ways to take money off you left and right. So yes they can charge for it, it sucks, but if you honestly can not afford it, talk to your P.E teacher and they might be able to figure it out... those P.E clothes work every year though, and in high school join a sport and you wont need P.E clothes

If they are charging for it, then yes! If the budget in the school district does not allow for free uniforms but they require a standard uniform, then the price will be put onto the parent or guardian. If the uniforms have already been budgeted and included in the budget, then they are included to your student. The latter is least likely.

Yes they can. That is considered the same thing as requiring kids to have certain types of calculators, which the courts have deemed proper.

They did when I was a kid. But hey, back then, my parents had to pay for our health insurance too, so I can see why you would think the concept is unfair.

Yes. Although they should make considerations for families who qualify for free lunch.

Yes they can. But if you can't afford it, then I'm sure they have some program that can help.

They all do. I had to pay like $30.00 for mine when I was in high school.

Absolutely. The education is free. It's the least they can do.

Do you complain when you file your taxes and you get a tax credit for every child?
