I love history. Since I have been around since the 50's and 60's I also like the older stuff from my parents era. I actually like history at any time.

Hated it in school, love it now. Go figure. I like knowing details about daily life from hundreds of years ago and relate it to where we are now. Progress isn't always better, just different.

There is a special breed known as Social Historians and they enjoy the cultural as well as the melodrama and the personalities involved. Though 'Decades' are a hard way to measure matters, especially in America where most Presidents average Eight years and Economic Cycles tend to run on a five to seven year cycle etc --

That said, I often seek out books the summarize a decade, one that I picked up is a History of England during the 1890's, another is a history of Paris during the 1930s. One of the best authors for examining. separately, the 1950s and 1960s, is the late David Halberstan.

A favorite decade would be hard to decide. But yes, it is fun delving into recent as well as ancient history and all the history in between.

Peace...

I agree with Space Robot, I prefer ancient history.
I love all history, recent and old but ancient classical history especially is my field of study [busy with Masters] and my main interest.
History is such a fascinating subject... :)
