You rarely ever see a promo for a movie that is rated G anymore. In the 1990s as I remember, G-rated movies were very popular. Now, even animated kids movies are rated PG or sometimes PG-13 even. Why is this? Is innocent but good humor not popular anymore?

Have to take a slightly different angle and suggest the rating system has become so tight that what would have passed as "G" some years ago is now "PG" or "PG-13".
God forbid some child watches "Snow White" and becomes traumatized by creepy trees...better rate it PG so we can defend ourselves if some lame parent wants to sue us.

Because profanity is becoming more and more acceptable in casual conversation and there is a stigma that G-rated means it is strictly a kids movie and the production companies are trying to market their products to as wide an audience as possible and teens tend to stay away from anything that is perceived as intended for children.

Secondly, is that violence and explosions puts butts in the seats no matter how bad the plot or the movie itself is.

The biggest reason is profitabliity. Studios make movies to get not only kids in the theater, but teens, parents, and young adults. You can search for g rated movies by the source provided below. It may help you decide what to watch tonight ;)

Crude and adult humor is becoming more popular and acceptable in our society. Have you heard kids talking these days?! They're so smart, and sometimes they have too much knowledge on stuff they shouldn't! If you are concerned about what types of movies your children/younger siblings watch, I suggest you watch them first to see if it is acceptable for them. I would stick to the older movies, They are a lot cleaner.

becasue more people are not really drawn to good movies anymore. they all want to watch a movie that has dirty humor...and all that other stuff that is not appropiate for little kids to watch. the only audience drawn to g rated movies are those who like hannah montana and lizzie miguire and all that.

Because the average adult does not want to go see Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. As an adult,if your child wants to go see a kids movie,it is more likely you will take you child if it is entertaining to both you and your child. In other words to sell more tickets.

because most today suck.

Mulan
Mulan II
Pocahontas II
Lion King 2 and 3

only the early 90's g rated movies were good.
