It depends what you mean. I assume you mean the host computer is the one connected to your high-speed Internet wireless router. If this is the case, NO, the host does NOT need a wireless card. You will connect the "host" to the router via a Ethernet cable. Other computers in your house will need a wireless card to connect to the Internet via your wireless router.

The router is hooked up to the host computer, the other computers use either a card or a usb device.

your question doesn't make much sense.

Here's what you need for wireless internet usage.

Get an ISP (internet service provider)
plug in the modem
plug your WIRELESS router into the modem with an ethernet or usb cable
get a pc that has wireless capability. most pc's in the last 5 yrs have this built in

if your pc doesn't have wireless then you need a wireless card or to buy a usb dongle that has wireless in it

done.

10 points please :)

Hi . There are a few routers that are both wired and wireless but I prefer a wired connection to my main PC and wireless to the others.

Most wireless routers require that you configure them with a network cable. Wireless configuration until WEP or WPA security is enabled is a big security hole.

If you don't need wireless for the moment turn it off or secure it. You don't need people hacking into your PC unnecessarily.
