Check Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso. Both are in the top 10 of the best painters of the 20 Century.

Gaudie and Dali are the first two that come to mind. They both had very unique visions.
Gaudie designed the Sagra Familia, a very reknowned church still being built (for the last 80 years I believe.)
Dali was just freakin wierd, but you can help but look at his stuff.
Guadie is the most popular in Barcelona.
