I have been thinking for the past month that I want to go to college. I graduated in 2005 and started working. I have talked to many of my co-workers and they say that I ought to. Tonight I ran into a Police officer who is a friend of mine and we talked about college he said that I ought to go back that if he could re-do his life again he would have gone to college instead of doing it now (he's 39). I just need some advice because if I go I will either have to quit my job or do school part-time and work full-time. Just need some advice! Thanks!!!

BY ALL MEANS, pursue some sort of post-secondary education, or join the military. Trust me.

If you want to attain a comfortable standard of living, it'll be much easier for you down the road if you make the sacrifice now and extend your education.

I have come across seemingly myriads of people who regret not going to college after high school.

At least have a viable plan!

If you want to own your own business or become self-employed, that's fine. But have a plan!

Vocational school, community college, university, correspondence courses, military --whatever it is, DO SOMETHING!

Do you want to go to college? Do you know what you would do at college? Do you want to work at something different than you are doing now? Are you happy with your life now, and as you see it progressing without college, or do you want a change?

My personal opinion is that a college education is never wasted, since we benefit from everything we do and learn. That doesn't mean that everyone needs to go to college. Many people lead fulfilling and rewarding lives and have interesting and well paying jobs without college. Maybe you would be more interested in an apprenticeship program that doesn't require college. Maybe you want to work your way up in a company. Maybe you are happy as you are.

You have to examine your own life and aspirations. Maybe try college part time and see what you think. Life is all about choices and compromise. We can't have everything so we have to choose, but sometimes a compromise is the best choice. Best of luck whatever you decide.

Set some goals for yourself. Decide what it is tha you really want to do. Getting a good job is mostly luck. + education. Getting a great job is a combination of education and knowing the right people. Good Luck!
