What would happen if all truck drivers nation wide went on a 30 day strike?

That would be a big mess. No mail, no grocery deliveries, et c.

And the feds think the mortgage thing is a crisis? It would be a disaster of immense proportions, a lot like downtown LA after the Rodney King verdict. Riots, looting, people going nutz.

It would be a major economic crisis--not to mention the food and fuel implications. Likely the government would step in and forbid the strike, and bring about terms (like they did years ago with the air traffic controllers).
I strike like you mention would be catastrophic.

The supply of soft drinks (bottles of hedge coke) for passing joggers would disappear and they would have to drink standard coke instead!

Traffic would be less, but the lack of food, gas and every other necessity you can think of would certainly override the lack of traffic.
