Besides that I bet 10% of the people talking all this stuff about Vick are either deadbeat parents or pieces of sH&T.....Get over it....He did what millions of people do every year, broke the law....He should be punished but dont be a hypocrit.....Chances are you've either hit your dog, drank and drove, did drugs, stole something........The point is don't point a dirty finger.......Its bad what happened to those dogs but do you think its fair that he will serve a sentence similiar to a person that rapes? or more than a Parent that leaves their infant kid in a car to burn?..........

What you know about ethics could be written on the back of a postage stamp with a broad-tip marker.

True- no one who's broken the law should be pointing the finger and judging someone else, but this case isn't about what someone else has done. This case is about what Michael Vick has done. He broke the law, and he should have been prepared to suffer the consequences for his actions, period! Just because he didn't leave an infant in a hot car or rape somebody, doesn't make him any less guilty of the crimes he did commit. ALL of those crimes are despicable, and the people committing them should be punished for it!!

Whoa wait a min... he is far from being a complete martyr.
Yes it is a little over the top, but it is a "new issue" brought to light first off. Next it is the fact that this man had potential, he came from nothing and to risk it doing what ???? Killing innocent animals, which is some people's minds is as bad as a human child. HBO sports did a wonderful documentary on dog fighting it does bring the sport to a very gruesome light. Where they make these animals are made to live in very disgusting living conditions, as well as animals they get for practicing fights where they actually duct tape their mouths shut so they can not bite their dogs. IF these dogs are not fighters they take them off and kill them sometimes with car batteries attached to their wet ears. And to lie about it yes, that makes it worse. Especially someone who signs a contract to earn 130 million dollars. It has a responsibility.
People have to have something to talk about.

What does this have to do with Americans, per se?

Sure, we're all (regardless of country of origin) very likely to wag a finger while we ourselves are doing disgusting things.

It doesn't make what he did any LESS disgusting, does it?

I agree that the sentence does have the feel of being made an example of...

But I also think that generally, the American penal system is more about the rest of us feeling better than either detering crime or protecting us from criminals.

I am a 33 year old black women. Who does hit her dog when she does something to deserve it, I stole something last week, I've used drugs before, I have no kids because I don't agree w/people breeding because there are TOO MANY people already, ummm what else, oh! I flicked this old lady off yesterday because she almost hit me. I've done a lot of bad, wrong things in my 33 yrs. AND I use to LOVE Mike. I thought he was hot looking and a good man.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He killed LIVE animals while WATCHING them gag, cry from being electrocuted, watched them choke, struggle and swing around while getting hung. That alone is stuff I would expect from someone like JEFFREY DAHMER. Then he made money off of it.

PLEASE. I hope he gets raped everyday in prison and when he gets out, is attacked by a pack of pit bulls as he is leaving, but I hope he lives to write a book or something. That is... if he can even read and write. He may not be that bright being that he couldn't find ANYTHING ELSE PRODUCTIVE to do beside, KILL LIVING ANIMALS after HE GOT HIS USE OUT OF THEM.

Disgusting! and EVIL.

He is a public figure. I am not. He influences adults and children. I DON'T. People and children look up to him, not me.
Great! God knows how many kids are now going around stealing peoples' dogs so they can "learn" to fit dogs. GOD! What is wrong w/Vick fans. There are ACCIDENTS and things done ON PURPOSE out of GREED, IGNORANCE and obviously no knowledge of who made the animals on this earth.

WAKE UP VICK FANS.

I am not only a dog owner but I have common sense also.

Vick -- because he opted to be in the public domain as an athelete -- is subject TO public opinion !! He rode high enough on it as a celebrity !! So, now that he has met with the judicial hammer for actions he CHOSE to commit -- he is still, a public figure and due whatever comes OF that !!

And, for whatever judicial actions are taken in whatever cases involving child abuse, or neglect, or rape or any other thing that exists --- none of this has a bearing one in THIS particular case -- the court has its guidelines and options and the power and authority to use them -- and will choose whatever sentence they feel is justified in THIS case -- with no view of other situations at all !!!
And, as far as anyone being a hypocrit --- simply because any one of us may or may not have our failings within life -- it STILL does not justify ANY actions by ANYONE else for whatever the case may be !!!!!
That's a little of a twist on the FACT that YOU are trying within this post --- in your own way -- to JUSTIFY VICK -- because other people do bad things !! Insane !!!!!

Yes it is fair! And he has admitted his guilt and claims that he knows how horribly wrong he was. So why can't you admit it? And by the way, I have never done any of those things you mentioned, and there are millions of people just like me! I for one would never go to, watch, or participate in anything Vick ever had a hand in again! He disgusts me, and it has nothing to do with his race! Everytime one of these guys does something wrong people like you are so quick to play the race card! Get over it!

I've never hit my dog, drank and drove, did drugs or stole something. I've also never killed animals so I guess I can point at Vick and yell LOSER! Cuz that's what he is. He'll be needing some soap on a rope btw. Maybe you can send him some

I wouldn't compare what Vick was doing to other crimes. Sure, most of us have broken the law. If we would have been caught, we should have paid our dues. Most of us grow up and refrain from doing things that harm others. Dogs are included. Laws are made to protect us. What he was doing was violent, vial and inexcusable. I hope he gets a deserving sentence.

My finger is not dirty and you're darn right that I'm pointing it. Vick is a horrible person and deserves at least the full five years in jail. I've even petitioned the NFL to never rehire him.

1) To all who state that Vick is a piece of s**t or worse....get off your high horses PLEASE!! Only God can truly judge ANYONE!! No one is perfect, we all fall short (whether it is breaking the law or not). People have such a way of focusing EXTREMELY hard and judging everyones elses shortcomings when they need to focus on what they could be doing better themselves!! 2) Every crime deserves punishment and he should and will be punished so people please stop beating a dead horse. What's done is done...let's focus all this energy on things that truly deserve this much attention ie. pedophiles, rapist, etc.
