if there's anything down the disposal that you can remove, scopp it out. Then try grinding up ice in the disposal. Try a plunger , too.

Your sink is filling? Sounds like you clogged your disposal by putting more food that it could grind at one time. It happened to me once when someone put about a pound of potatoes worth of peels down the disposal. My husband had to take the disposal apart and clean out the pipes to the sink. After he did that it worked just fine again.
Don't use Drano or Liquid Plumber. It won't do a bit of good and can splash back up in your face when you turn the disposal on.

first make sure power is off.place a wooden spoon or salad type spoon in the disposal and see if you can remove some of the clutter. my hands are small so i can get a hand into the drain to do this myself.if after removing some of the clutter the unit does not work you will have to remove the disposal from the sink.this is really very simple.look under the sink at the disposal it just turns off. you may be able to remove it without taking any of the drain parts off.use caution if they are plastic pipes, they could break.if they are plastic they are usually only hand tight and can take them apart with ease.

get out a small trash can

remove the "P- trap"

using a small probing tool clean out the lines

be careful when you get close to having it cleaned out

as all the water will come thru the line

hopefully into the trash can you have close at hand

put it back together rinse the lines with hot water and remember how much fun that was so you dont do it again

by the way apple skins orange peels banana peels carrots potatos cabbage

all should never be put in a disposal either

a disposal was designed to get rid of the stuff that accumulates from the washing of the dishes

not as a way to avoid carrying the trash out

Never put gobs of stuff down the drain! Garbage disposals are not meant for big jobs, just residue. See if you can pull some of the stuff out by hand and try again. Use your trash can in the future.

It will probably slowly drain and after it does then you can put a stopper in the side without the garbage disposal and then plunge the disposal. If that doesn't work then some kind of drain cleaner would work but be sure that you put it in the drain side and not the disposal side.

i dont know why people bother having garbage disposal units, they are a piece of crap, put it in the bin, call a plumber to come out and clean out your trap under neath your sink and get them to remove the insinkerator and replace it with normal waste pipes. food is not meant to go down the drain no matter how chopped up it is.

Take out as much as you can and put it in the garbage where it belonged in the first place.
