What would cause my 1999 Saturn SC1 to overheat, the power steering to fail, the air conditioner to stop working (fan works just no cold air), and the battery light to come on all simultaneously ??

The serpentine belt driving the water pump (overheat), power steering pump (no PS), A/C compressor (warm air), and alternator (battery light) either fell off or broke. Replace the tensioner and idlers along with the belt.

did you check see if your bet is broken ?did you have work done on your a/c, if so it was over re-charged . but if you did not had any work done to it your compresseur or clutch pack need to be replace , when you turn off the ac the car works fine ?, only when you turn on the a/c the clutch pack kick in but does not turn as freelly as it should , and this will cause the engine to slow down , water pump can not circle the coolant fast enough to cool down the engine , and can not turn the alt fast enough to supply enough power to mantain the battery voltage and all acc ,in return the dash lights will all light up as if the car stop , also if you have a tentioner pully check that to it can cause the same problem . now for the ps turn off the a/c see it car run the way it should ,if it dosn't , check the ps fluid ,if it's ok , try to turn it left to and back if it feels hard to turn eventhough it does not make noise nave the ps pump check or replace , try those few tips . good luck .

Your serpentine belt is broken. Go to the auto parts store and get a new one. Tell them what you drive and they will ask you some easy questions. You might be able to do it yourself or the store will install it for you. Good Luck!!!
