Of course empathy is a word... is it possible that perhaps you misspelled it when you first posted, and this guy was just being a jerk about correcting you?
In any case, why do you care that some insane stranger was "yelling" at you over the internet??

Yes empathy is a word. Yes, the youtube guy is a total moron. No, he doesn't have a brain. And finally, why waste your energy on someone that stupid?

Empathy is a real word. It means something like being able to put yourself in the other person's shoes, feel their pain and grief, etc.

This guy is rude and ignorant. Don't give him the time of day. You used the word correctly and knew what you meant. Obviously, he doesn't have a clue or is just trying to make you feel low. Don't let him rent space in your head.

honey it's a word. Do not listen to someone who doesn't know when to use apostrophes. LOL
You used the word correctly. You can feel empathy. You are putting yourself in someone else's shoes. That's feeling and understanding their situation, rather than sympathizing. When you sympathize all you do is recognize the emotion, you do not feel it.
Yell @ him all you'd like.

Yes, it is a real word. But there's really no such thing, since you can't actually feel anyone's pain but your own. Identify with, yes -- but, feel -- no.

It's a real word--
Appreciation of another's problems and feelings without experiencing the same emotional reaction. To be distinguished from sympathy, which is usually nonobjective and noncritical.

Tell him he's a stupid jerk. Keep using the word. He's gonna end up getting it in his head and using it. Then make fun of him. =) He's a loser. It is a word. He needs a dictionary.

As you know, it is a word. Either he knows it is a word and was just jerking you around, or he doesn't know it is a word; in which case yelling will do no good. It's not nice to yell at dummies.

Empathy is frequently confused with sympathy.
Both are words.
Empathy is when a man sees another man get hit in the crotch and he cringes and may cover his privates.Sympathy is when the guy who didn't get hit yells "Oh jeez".
