So I'm 24 and only have this associates degree in general studies...can't really hold a job because my school schedule changes each semester and then my job doesn't like it, so I go to another. Always living paycheck to paycheck. A year ago, i was working full time in a bank making $33,000 year. I want to marry my girlfriend and buy a house but can't do it with $33k. I asked my job for more money, they said no, because no B.S. degree. I wanted to go back to school but they wouldn't let me cause I had to work full time. So I quit my bank job and went back to college for a B.S. in business, my state university excepted me right away so I went for it. THE PROBLEM IS: I'm at a distance learning campus, cause the main campus is about 5 hours away where I live. If i stay here at the distance learning campus I can only take 1-2 classes per semester and it would take me like 5 years to finish my 60 credits, but if i go to main campus, i finish 2 years. How do I get more money for school? I apply for FAFSA student loan and get only $1,000 per semester, cause I think because I live with my parents? I don’t know? I need $3,000 for classes alone per semester. Plus I need an apartment and pay my bills. If I get married now, will I get more aid? If I leave my parents and live alone, will I get more money? I need help please, this situation is really making me depressed. The only real problem I have is this. Sucks, 24 and no money living with parents. I’m trying to change my life, give me advice.
God Bless You for reading this and for your advice!

I think you're getting some bad advice somewhere. I keep hearing about how all these people are graduating college owing $30 or $40k in student loans. Why can't you be one of them?

It sounds like you need to make a move to the main campus, work an evening job, get some student loans, and finish that degree. Good luck.

First off, if it's not too late DO NOT GET MARRIED, PLEASE DO NOT.

Secondly, why did you quit your job before finding your school to go back in? You obviously made a bad choice there, so I'd totally try to work out a way to make school closer, otherwise 5 years to get a degree is NOT WORTH IT unless you see your salary increase.

Third, I'm not sure about marriage status for aid, but it may help on the surface BUT BUT BUT, I insist you don't go down that road, because unless she's good at making money for you, your cost of living will hurt you WAY MORE than any financial aid can support.

Finally, try taking a loan, BUT ONLY ONLY ONLY if you know you can make more money than you do with the degree, otherwise go back to your $33K job and live low. I'd be too happy.

Here's the point : If you can't afford to get married now, you can't afford to get married if you're going back to school. Right? So marriage is the last thing on your mind if finance is a problem,

You will get more money if you are out of your parents home. If you are married, I believe you get even more. But that is not a reason to get married. Hang in there. Why can you only take 1-2 classes per semester through distance learning? Are the classes just not being offered?

Apply for a Stafford loan payment are not due until six months after you graduate, or leave school. I did it, my daughter is doing it and it is at a low interest rate
