replace your starter as it's going bad, the soleonoid is not kicking in and out right.

Clean and re-tighten all of the connections on the starter and the battery and if it still does it the copper/brass contacts in the starter solenoid are probably worn out assuming the interior lights don't dim when you turn the key to start. The contacts are a known failure point on the Denso offset gear reduction starter on Chrysler products but they are also replaceable. I am not so sure about your GM but you probably need a new starter.

1 of the 2.
Starter solenoid going out.
Or the battery cables are making a poor connection at the battery. Clean the terms and the cable ends with baking soda and water mix..

My money is on the solenoid though.

before you go to the expense of a new battery or starter clean the cables and battery post and make sure all connections are tight even the ground to the body. you can have your battery tested for free at most auto supply stores

If it just clicks your battery is dead. Charge it, then when you can get it started, go to a parts store to get your alternator and battery checked.
