A company just bought out the company I work for. Their dress code is way more professional than what it currnetly is....like suits and crap. They are only giving us 150.00 to buy new clothes for work does this seem like a reasonable amount to you? I am pretty much just venting...I dont have anything even close to what they want us to wear and i dont have the means to buy a new wardrobe, how can they expect us to just change a whole wardrobe like that? give me a break!!!

You should be able to buy one acceptable outfit for that. I would go with a black A line skirt with a simple white blouse and black shoes. Wear it every day washing and drying it every night until you can afford another blouse, I would choose as solid pale pink then rotate them until you could afford a baby blue one. Then start buying skirts with prints with white, pink or blue and a bit of black so you could always wear your black shoes and mix or match the skirts and blouses.
Consider work clothing a uniform not a fashion show, simple, clean and neat mean more than variety.
Men have gone years with a hand full of slacks and jackets and only white shirts and black shoes. Nobody cares if they wore black yesterday with a white shirt and look the same today unless it looks slept in.

Business attire means a suit for men (navy blue is best), a shirt, and a tie. For women, a jacket and skirt with blouse or top, a jacket and very nice pants, or a dress with a jacket or cardigan over it. Do not make the mistake of underdressing, especially women. Your shoes can be stylish but conservative, and certainly not sandals.

Perhaps their dress code for business attire is not as 'crappy' as you feel it is. There are certain basic standards of business dress and if your company did not conform to them, you can't get mad at the new acquiring company. Affter all, you are now their employee and need to abide by their employee guidelines for dress.

So stop venting and get to the store and try your best to conform. At least they are giving you some money. They don't have to.

Good luck

Count your blessings, most jobs require you to follow the dress code and don't give you a dime for clothing reimbursement. You are so lucky!!!
