If you cannot work something out with the creditor or their attorney, you can file a petition or motion with the court to pay the debt in installments. There should be a form you can get from the court clerk's office. You will usually need to pay the entire debt within a specified time period, which will probably be about 3 years. Basically, you pay the amount to the court directly. If you are late or fail to pay the agreed amount you will likely be garnisheed again and may not be able to work another arrangement with the court.
