The easiest way, and takes least time to exlain, is this:

Think of decimals as fractions, ALWAYS.
So 0.2 is 2/10, rite?
then 244 divided by 2/10 is
the same as 244 multiplied by 10/2 (which is 5)
so Anwser is, 244 X 5= 1220

The trick here is you can look at it as a fraction:
244 / 0.2

Now, knowing that 10/10 is really equal to 1, you can multiply your fraction by 10/10:

(244 * 10) / (0.2 * 10) = 2440 / 2 (to get rid of the fraction).

Now, this fraction is easier to solve.... 2440 / 2 = 1220.

There you go!

(FYI: If there is two decimals, multiply by 100/100, 3 decimals, its by 1000/1000, etc to get rid of the decimals in the bottom!)

OK the simplest way to divide with decimals is to move the decimal point: Not complicated it just sounds like it.

Taking your problem of 244 divided by 0.2 First you have to clear the decimal from the 0.2 before you divide.

The easy way to do this is simply more the decimal point over one place to the right. That will make it 2.0 instead of 0.2.

Notice I said move the decimal point over one place to the right. That is important. I'll show you why.
Since you moved the decimal point over one place making 0.2 into 2.0 a whole number you are going to have to move the decimal point over one place on 244 as well
244.0 now more decimal point over one place:makes 244
2440.0
then when you write the problem you before you do anything else place the decimal point right above the decimal point of the number you are dividing into.
like this if it works.
,,,,____*___ put decimal point right there where star is right
2 | 2440.0 above decimal point in 2440.0

What you are doing is dividing 2440 by 2 now and once you place your decimal point everthing to the right will be a decimal.

you answer is going to be 1220.0

Keep this in mind when dividing with decimals you move the decimal point in the divisor over how many places it takes to make the divisor a whole number: That is number one:
Next you count off the number of places you moved the decimal point over:
Then you move the decimal point over the same number of places in the number you are dividing into: Adding zeroes as needed.
Next the divisor is a whole number (doesn't have any decimals) you do not move the decimal point over in the dividend. just bring it straight up to your answer first before you start dividing. that way you will not lose it.
Hope that helps. Just a simple matter of counting your decimal places this way.

An easy way is to multiply both numbers by 10, 100 etc to make the divisor a whole number.

For example, 244 / 0.2 is the same as 2440 / 2 (just multiply both by 10).
